Volcano Engine Speech API Setup Guide

Follow these steps to configure the optional Volcano Engine backend. The default built-in server does not require this.

Open Volcano Engine and sign in

Open ByteDance's cloud platform, Volcano Engine:

Register or sign in with a mobile number.

Complete real-name verification

ByteDance API services require account verification. You only need to do this once.

Click 前往实名认证 (go to real-name verification), then complete face verification via WeChat or Douyin.

Open Doubao Speech and create an app

After verification, open the Doubao Speech console:

⚠️Make sure the top-right corner is switched to 旧版 (old version). The new console has a different flow.

Click 创建应用 (Create app).

Fill in the app information

Use the following values in the app creation form:

应用名称vip (English only)
应用简介自己用 (personal use)
接入能力豆包流式语音识别模型 2.0 小时版
Create app form

Click 确定 (Confirm) to create the app.

Get App ID and Access Token

Close the create-app dialog. In the left menu, open API 服务中心 › 豆包流式语音识别模型 2.0, then scroll to the bottom to find App ID and Access Token. Click the eye icon to reveal the token.

Do not click 「服务开通」. Enabling the paid service may consume paid quota and invalidate the trial quota. If you clicked it accidentally, use the recovery steps below.

Open 应用管理 in the left menu and create a new app.

Create another app

Return to this page and choose the new app in the 应用名称 dropdown. Confirm its service status shows 开通, which means it has not been paid-enabled yet.

💡If you created multiple apps, make sure the selected 应用名称 is the one you just created.
✓Volcano Engine currently provides trial speech recognition quota for new users. The built-in VIP backend remains the easiest zero-configuration option.

Enter the keys in VIP

Open VIP Settings and paste the two values into the matching fields:

App IDcopied from Volcano Engine
Access Tokencopied from Volcano Engine
🔐Access Token is a secret. Keep it private.

Click Save, then VIP can use the Volcano Engine backend.
